Dates

Location
Online

The involvement of people with lived experience in social work education been a central commitment for a long time, reflecting professional values and recognising the wealth of diverse knowledge and expertise people at the receiving end of services and support can bring.

At the Open University this commitment has developed further into a clear ambition to co-produce the curriculum in partnership with people with lived experiences, in recognition that experiential knowledge has equal value to other forms of knowledge (theoretical knowledge and practical skills).

Secondly, close collaboration between employers and training providers is critical to ensuring the curriculum remains current and aligns with workforce needs.

Hear from our panel about what best practice collaboration looks like and how co-produced education equips students with the range of knowledge and skills they need, enabling them to transition more confidently into professional roles. We would also like to share the range of opportunities to get involved with.

The Open University has been delivering qualifying social work programmes in partnership with employers since 1997, and more than 4,300 social workers have qualified with the OU.

Join our academic experts and external guests to discuss the latest developments and thinking in these growing areas around social work education.
